IS LINDELOF RIGHT FOR UNITED?
There are reports that Manchester United are close to completing a £30.7 million move for Victor Lindelof.
The player is set to be the first signing for the Red Devils this summer. United have chased the player for long. He was rumoured to join United in January but the deal never happened. The 22-year old is now set to join the ranks at Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho chase the Premier League and Champions League.
Benfica earlier asked for £52 million but after United cooled their interest and went back, both sides were able to agree a price. The player is expected to complete a medical but is he right for United at the moment?
The player is quite popular in Sweden. His combination with Andreas Granqvist excites fans since OlofMellberg. He is good on the offensive, using both legs and head well. The player featured in rookie football not too long ago but he has quickly developed. While he is a good passer and player of the ball, there are concerns if he is ready to make the huge leap.
Lindelof is expected to partner Eric Bailly in central defence even though he can play right back – as he did at the 2015 Under-21 Euro tournament. Many hope he would not turn out like Gerard Pique for United whom he has been compared to. Fans of Man United hope he would grow into another NemanjaVidic though their physical features and style is different.
Lindelof is quite the modern day defender but so much is expected of him so soon.
