STONES SIMILAR TO GERARD PIQUE
The former coach of Aston Villa and Norwich Paul Lambert compares Everton’s John stones to Barcelona defender Gerard Pique. Lambert feels both player have a similar way of playing football.

Gerard Pique’s form might not be as it used to be but the Spain international remains a crucial member of the team. He was part of the World Cup winning squad of 2010 and has lifted the UEFA Champions League three times with Barcelona.
John Stones on the other hand as eluded Chelsea as they have been seeking to add him to their list of defenders but the deal has never gone through. Pep Guardiola is even reported to be keen on luring the player with a £50 million bid this summer. Lambert said he sees Guardiola looking at the player but seeing Gerard Pique. Pique is one of the best centre backs that has remained consistent since joining in 2005.
He could not get a starting shirt at Manchester United in his younger days but has gone to become one of the crucial players at the Camp Nou. The player is comfortable with his feet and in aerial ball, Lambert says Guardiola is looking at moulding stones to be a better version for him at the Etihad.
Everton are not likely to release Stones but City would try all the same as they hope to strengthen their defence ahead of the new campaign that has high targets attached. The club just signed Sane from the German Bundesliga as they hope to boost their attacking options ahead of the new campaign set to begin next week. Fans were happy with the deal and trolled Manchester City flop Raheem Sterling as they want changes in tactics from the Spanish boss when the league resumes.
