Gerard Pique is yet to win in his career

One title that Gerard Pique is yet to win in his career is the Club World Cup and he is pretty keen to win it this time around.

Barcelona has qualified for Club World Cup 2016 as the champions of Europe and they will start their tournament tomorrow by directly playing the semi final match against the Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande.

Guangzhou has made the semis by beating Club De Football America.

According to Pique, Club World Cup is a peculiar tournament in the sense that it provides the players the opportunity to play against the sides which they don’t get to play against normally.

In the media briefing last evening, Pique was quoted as saying, “There is no tournament like this. You compete with sides from the other continents and it gives you a different experience which is beneficial for you as a professional player.”

“It’s nice to be here in Japan. There’s great buzz for the tournament. People are excited and we are excited too to get going.”

Guangzhou Evergrande is nowhere near Barcelona if one draws the comparisons on paper, but, Pique tried to suggest that the Spanish giants are not taking their opponents lightly.

The defender said, “We know the Asian players; they are skilful and hard workers. But, for us, it’s all about playing the way we are good at and try and dictate terms.”

“Scolari is a manager who believes in defensive tactics. So, I assume they would probably be looking to block us, try and frustrate us as much as possible and see if they can catch us on counter.”

The match will be played at the International Stadium Yokohama.

The final will also take place at the same venue on the coming Monday.
