MESSI IS WORLDS BEST

FC Barcelona and Spanish international defender Gerard Pique has reasserted that star striker Lionel Messi is the only player in the world at the moment that deserves the FIFA Ballon D’Or.

The little Argentine was up against Barcelona teammate Xavi Hernandez and eternal rival Cristiano Ronaldo for the biggest individual award in the world of football and Pique believes that the level Messi is playing at right now cannot be compared.

Pique, who was a former teammate of Messi at the youth set up at Barcelona before he moved to English Premier League giants Manchester United, added that no other player has been as consistent as Messi over the last few years. Over the last two years he has led Barcelona to back-to-back Betfair Champions league title’s, as well as La Liga.

Pique added that this Barcelona side is going down in history as one of the best club sides of all time and Messi is one player who deserves more credit than anyone else in the side. Having known Messi for so long, Pique can see that he still plays football with the joy of a 13 year old; the only difference between then and now is that he does it day in and day out in the professional level.

Pique further added that it was always a pleasure to play with the little Argentine and now that he leads the side from the front, scoring goals for fun, it was much more fun to see. No-one is going to have a bet on Chelsea or other clubs winning the Champions League whilst Messi is on such good form.

Gerard Pique himself was also named in the FIFA Team of the Year along with several members of his Barcelona side, including Messi and he added that being a part of such brilliant company was indeed a very humbling feat and he hopes that he will be able to be there at the top for many years to come.
