Pique Happy with Win

Barcelona stopper Gerard Pique insists that the club felt it was necessary to overcome Sevilla in the Spanish Super Cup in order to highlight their desire to win a clean sweep of titles this season.

The Spanish defender was part of the side that obliterated Sevilla 4-0 and retained their Supercopa crown in front of their own fans.

Speaking in the wake of the resounding win, the former Manchester United defender said that the win was a statement of what is to come from Barcelona this season.

He claimed: “We needed to win against Sevilla to show that we are ready to win it all. We want to win titles, and we are very pleased to continue winning with such ease.

“Playing well in our stadium, with people on our side, we are very difficult to stop. We were very dynamic in the first half, but we began to feel tired towards the end.”
